This page will help you to find out more about:
My research
My
publications
My CV
Or myself
(No, this is not Amsterdam; it's just a picture I found on the network that appealed to me)
This is some personal stuff that you might find interesting:
I have my Ph.D. from the Free University in Amsterdam. But I grew up on the countryside in a province called Zeeland ("land from the sea"), in the Southwest of the country, near Belgium. (Yes, we tell jokes about Belgians). It may not seem a big deal to you, but I lived below sea level the first 27 years of my life.
My hobbies are biking, hiking, playing
chess, playing volleyball, doing math research, traveling, and
listening to music (favorite instrument: piano; favorite composers:
Ravel, Debussy, Rachmaninov, Prokofiev; but I'm also fond of jazz
music, especially Bill Evans, Chick Corea, Miles Davis, Stan Getz, and
almost any kind of New Orleans Dixieland).
Though I'm not a real addict, I like to go to the cinema sometimes.
Favorite
movies: Casablanca, Fargo, Kansas City, North by Northwest, and Il
Postino
(a beautiful Italian countryside portrait). And I find James Bond
movies
usually quite entertaining.
What I like about Texas? The climate! It's really mucb, much better
than the Dutch, Dutch weather.
(Dare take a look at the weather in
Amsterdam
?) Also, I like the space and the laid-back atmosphere.
On the down side, I really don't like:
