Application for Student Job    rev 12/06

Semester __________

Year  ____________

Notes to Applicants:
  1. This application applies to two types of student jobs.
    (1) Grader
Hourly position for which timesheets are submitted every 2  weeks.  A maximum amount of $23/student/semester  is available; however, actual pay depends  upon amount of work performed and submitted up to or at that maximum.  Graders must meet expectations of  course Instructor of Record; grading and returning  assignments in timely manner.  Students who are new to the Grader position must attend an orientation meeting at the beginning of the semester of employment.
    (2)  Math Lab Facilitator.
Interested applicants for Math Lab Facilitator positions should visit Math Lab Employment Policies at www.math.unt.edu/mathlab/Tutors/Employment Policies.htm to review the staffing assignment priority list for Math Lab positions.
  2. Although applying for more than one position is possible, the UNT Dept. of Mathematics seeks to distribute available positions to qualified applicants in a fair and equitable manner.  Applicants should not expect to receive more than one type of job assignment
  3. Student employees are limited to work assignments of  maximum 20 hours per week; however, most assignments are closer to 10 hours per week, and very few ever reach the 20 hours per week maximum.
  4. Qualified applicants will receive an assignment based on their qualifications, position's availability, and their schedule availability.
  5. Job requirements for these positions are, first and foremost, dependability and a strong sense of responsibility.
  6. Incomplete applications will not be considered.  Reference letters must be attached to the application.  (Electronic reference letters may be sent directly to the Math Student Services Coordinator.  See Part II for address.)   Only professional letters of reference are accepted (previous employers, previous math professors, etc.).  Reference letters from personal friends or family members are not considered professional and are therefore not accepted.
  7. Applicant must be enrolled as student of  UNT for semester of  application.  These positions are restricted to UNT students; withdrawal from all classes for the semester of employment renders employee ineligible to continue work.
