TEACHING FELLOW POLICY MANUAL
1. INTRODUCTION
This policy manual applies to all Department of Mathematics
graduate students who are financially supported by the
department. Some policies, in particular the Qualifying Examination
Policy, apply to all mathematics graduate students.
The policies in this manual supplement the official University of
North Texas policies regarding graduate students and Teaching Fellows
found in the UNT Graduate
Catalog, the UNT Policy
Manual and the UNT Handbook for Teaching Fellows and Teaching Assistants.
Policies in any of these documents supercede any policy
implemented by the Department of Mathematics.
Some common University of North Texas abbrevations are used in this
manual. Here is a list.
- UNT is the University of North Texas, the leading university in
the Dallas/Fort Worth region and a doctoral/research university
ranked in the top 4 percent of U.S. colleges and universities
classified by the Carnegie Foundation!
- GAB is the General Academic Building, home of the Math
Department.
- CAS is the College of Arts and Sciences, the college within the
university of which the Math Department is a part.
- CASCSS is the College of Arts and Sciences Computer Support
Services.
- ISB is the Information Sciences Building, next to the GAB and home
to the science library, which includes math books, and the
UNT Computing Center.
- ESSC is the Eagle Student Services Center, next to the University
Union and home of the Toulouse School of Graduate Studies (the
graduate school) and the Office of the Registrar.
- TF, TA, and GA stand for Teaching Fellow, Teaching Assistant,
and Graduate Assistant, respectively, all of whom should be
familiar with the contents of this Policy Manual.
- EUID stands for Enterprise-Wide User-ID, a completely unique
electronic identity for each individual affiliated with the
University of North Texas. For students, it is normally the
same as their Eaglemail login name.
- ODA is the Office of Disability Accommodation, the office for
students with disabilities.
